「節分」を英語でどう説明するか（覚書）

節分を英語でどう説明するか。

あっくんが通っているインターの幼稚園で、「Setubun」の紙をもらったので、今後のために、覚書。


"Setubun" literally means "division of seasons" and this day was the end of winter.
On the evening of this day, people throw roasted soybeans inside and outside their houses with a cry of
''Oniwa-soto, Fukuwa-uchi!'' meaning ''Devils out! Good luck in!''.

As the beans are thrown, it is believed good luck is invited in and bad luck is driven out.
It is also customary to eat as many roasted beans as one's age. It is a kind of charm against ill luck.
